Dog Rescue Stories From China
In an effort to look beyond all the news of dog cullings in China these days, and to focus on some really good work that is happening in Beijing, I am posting several stories that have come from our China office. These are stories of dogs that were rescued from life threatening situations but have all recovered, thanks to the dedication and care at the Beijing Human and Animal Environmental Education Center.

With your support, in 2008 we made an enormous difference in the lives of animals. Through Hurricanes Ike and Gustav...working with eBay to ban the trade in ivory online...to saving countless animals from cruelty around the globe...IFAW was there to help. Now join our 2009 campaign to protect whales.

It is great to hear positive stories of rescued dogs in China. I have read these stories while back in France on holiday but am priviledged to know these dogs personally as I volunteer at this shelter when I live in Beijing..fyi..much easier to post from France than China! Wonderful work is being done at BHAEEC, by Zhang Luping and the volunteers alike. However, the journey towards educating the Chinese about responsible animal husbandry and adopting animals from shelters, is a painfully slow and long one. To all those who persevere in the face of this enormous challenge, to my fellow animal advocates, I have to say a very cheesy well done, keep up the good work...it needs and deserves to be done. Your cause is a noble one! Don't have too much fun in my absence!!!
